With 2012 marking the 60th year of Queen Elizabeth’s reign, plans are already in place to celebrate this national anniversary.
Organisers are working round the clock to ensure that celebrations make a fitting tribute, and Gorleston’s Rotary Club have stepped up to the mark, arranging for Great Yarmouth Brass Band to perform at the Gorleston Bandstand on June 3rd.
The traditional treat will be open for the public, with donations to be collected for the Queen’s chosen charities. In addition, Yarmouth will play host to an array of festivities, with a two-day fete to be held in St George’s Park on 2nd June.
The fete will take as a theme the last British Diamond Jubilee, which saw Queen Victoria celebrate on her way to becoming the country’s longest serving monarch. Stall holders will dress in Victorian costume, and delicious traditional foods will be served.
With such a joyous national occasion on the horizon, it’s time to decide, how will you celebrate the Diamond Jubilee in Gorleston?
