Gorleston’s Ormiston Venture Academy: Accredited as a National Teaching School

Excellent news for schools in Gorleston: Ormiston Venture Academy has been names as a National Teaching School, making it the first Secondary School in Norfolk to be given such an award.

A teaching school is responsible for peer-to-peer professional leadership development, identifying and developing leadership potential, providing support for other schools, and engaging in research and development. There are currently only three national training schools in Norfolk: Sheringham Primary, West Raynham Primary, and Eaton Hall School, so the Academy’s new status will serve as a tremendous boost for Gorleston schools.

Ormiston Venture Academy will receive a £60,000 grant in its first year, and then a £50,000 and £40,000 grant in its second and third years, respectively. The money is to go towards building the school’s leadership and administrative capacities, as well as leading its teaching school alliance, Ignite, which includes a set of Gorleston schools and other educational partners from the local area who are to benefit from its teaching leadership capacities.
