Everyone knows that Gorleston’s got talent, but now thanks to the rotary club there’s a new way for the town’s musicians to get some valuable experience and show off their skills in front of a live audience.
The Rotary Club’s aim is to encourage musicians and singers of all ages by providing them with a stage on which to perform and an audience to applaud.
Gorleston Makes Music offers musicians, instrumentalists and singers an experience of performing on a public stage to showcase their talent. Their performances will be judged against the other performers by a panel of local, impartial judges, with five being chosen to perform in the finals on Sunday 25th August on the Rotary Bandstand.
Auditions will be held in the Pavilion Theatre, Gorleston, on Sunday 28th July at which five performances will be chosen to perform again on the Rotary Bandstand in Gorleston on Sunday 25th August where locals and holidaymakers will be invited to make up an audience. The five performances will again be judged, with participation from the audience. The top three will receive cash prizes – the winner will receive a prize of £250, the runner up will receive £100 and the third will receive £50.
Vauxhall Holiday Park’s Promotions Manager, Hannah Biss, has agreed to sponsor the £250 first prize for the winner of the competition, and JayJay’s Beach Restaurant has agreed to sponsor the third prize of £50. The rotary club are still seeking sponsorships from local firms to cover the costs of publicity, prizes and general expenses.
Applications from musicians, groups and singers who want to enter and show off their talent continue to roll in. There is a limit to the number that can be accommodated at the auditions, so make sure you get your applications in early.
